Here is important information to help you:

Fraction: a part over a whole

Fraction is written as a numerator over a denominator (numerator is the top number and denominator is the bottom number)
Ex: ½  : 1 s the numerator  / 2 is the denominator 

Since the denominator is 2- how many pieces do I need? -2 

Why? Because the denominator is telling you how many pieces you need for the whole. 

What do you notice about all denominators? It tells you how many pieces you need
