Hello Class!! Today's topic is solving two-step equations. I have included the Lesson Sheet and Practice Sheet. Also included is a video that may help you.

The Lesson Sheet will be reviewed during our 11:30 class meeting. Your homework is to complete the Practice Sheet. You are to complete 8 out of questions 1 through 12. And you are to complete 2 questions from 13 through 15.

Attached I have included 12 NY State questions regarding expressions and equations. We have reviewed all the necessary skills to complete these questions. Your assignment is to complete 9 out of 12 of the questions. Attempt all the questions but you will only be graded on 9 of your responses. So I want you to try your hardest, but I know that you may struggle with some of the questions.

I have messaged a lot of you regarding the Evaluating Expressions Lesson and how I see that a lot of students are struggling. I want to take the time at the 11:30 meeting to review the process for evaluating expressions.

This process uses substitution and our knowledge of the order of operations.

I posted a video along with the original lesson "Evaluating Expressions" 2 days ago, some students found it very helpful, I suggest you watch it as a supplement to today's lesson.

We will be discussing factoring linear equations, this is sometimes known as "undistributing.
By the end of this lesson you will be able to factor linear expressions by using the Greatest Common Factor.

We are going to be simplifying expressions by using the distributive property and by combining like terms. And as always the rules for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers will need to be applied. For the assignment attached please complete all questions. You have today and the whole weekend to complete this task so I do not feel it is unreasonable.

Today we will continue with expressions and equations. By the end of today you should be able to add and subtract linear equations. That is equations with one variable and a constant. They are called linear because when you plot these expressions on a graph they form a straight line.

Here is the task sheet for today's lesson. We will be reviewing numbers 1,4 and 5 during the meeting. Your homework is to complete numbers 2, 3, 6, and 7 - 12. Please make sure you know how to open these documents and submit them. If you are still unsure please search google on how to submit and edit in google slides. I put videos out yesterday if you need some extra help.

I have attached a google slide "Algebraic Expression Homework" for you to complete. You must put the letter of the statement that matches each expression. Place that statement letter that matches the expression in the first column. I have also included a word document that we are going to review during our meeting today

Please complete 6 of the 9 problems in today's assignment. Like discussed in the meeting do a "3 READ". Read the problem 3 times

1st Read - identify the characters and what they are doing
2nd Read - identify the numbers and math vocabulary to know what operation or operations you will be using. Look out for key words like: more, less, each, below, above.
3rd Read - what is the problem asking us to solve

Here is a worksheet for you to complete by Monday at 11:30AM. I have chosen to use google slides because you wont be able to delete the questions you will be able to provide your answers where it says answers here
